MIXED MEDIA. 2017.

Type: visual arts project

This series investigates the lost of identity as a result of the lost of life.

Totem. Paper sculpture. 2.5m. 2017.

As the emblem of a family or tribe, the totem pole represents tradition and origin. As the world continues to globalise and integrate, this totem pole brings attention to the lost of culture as a result of unification.

Washed Asylum. Installation. 2017.

A response to the Syrian refugee crisis, inviting viewers to dig into the sand, symbolising the beaches that bodies of refugees fleeing by boat were often washed up on. Found objects include a child's shoe, a woman's sock, et cetera - things that belonged to people and families before they namelessly lost their lives.

Fragments. Ceramics. 2017.

A series of expressionless, nearly identical ceramic faces. After death, we are buried in cemeteries with monotonous gravestones and columbarium that are almost indistinguishable from one another. Our identities are reduced to fragments of memories of the ones who cared.
